Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine overall condition. ![]() The screw heads are lightly worn with strong slots and the markings are clear. There are a few scrapes and impact marks through the finish on the magazine tube, most noticeable on the right side at the front. The nose cap has some scrapes and impact marks through the finish, heaviest on the right side. The rear sight has some freckles of light surface oxidation. There are a few rings or discoloration, most noticeable on the first 6″ from the muzzle. There are a few spots of light surface oxidation on the barrel, most noticeable around the rear sight. The barrel has some scuffs, scrapes, and scratches, most noticeable between the muzzle and nose cap. The lever has a few scuffs, tiny nicks, and spots of discoloration. Ther is a scrape on the top of the receiver at the front. The receiver has thinning on its edges, plus light handling wear and a few little scuffs. Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its metal finish. Type of Finish: The rifle is blued, with the top and bottom of the receiver having a matte black finish.īore Condition: The bore is bright and the Ballard rifling is sharp, there is no erosion in the bore. The stocks rate in about Fine Plus overall condition. The LOP measures approximately 13 1/2” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate, which shows moderate wear at the heel and toe, along with some lightly smoothed checkers. The checkering is intact and attractive with no heavy defects. There is a thin scratch to the butt of the pistol grip. There are some sparsely scattered draglines and light compressions, the majority of which are located on the forend. There was a Marlin Bullseye in the belly, but it is missing and the hole has been filled. The buttstock has a pistol grip, fluted straight comb, and a checkered black hard rubber buttplate marked “Marlin”. Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are beautiful two-piece checkered dark walnut. The left side and top of the receiver are drilled, tapped, and filled for sights or mounts. The base is grooved for a protective hood. The front sight is a brass beaded blade dovetailed into a serrated ramped base which is screwed to the top of the barrel. ![]() Sights / Optics: This rifle is mounted with a “U” notched rear elevator sight that is dovetailed into the barrel. ![]() The right side of the barrel at the receiver is marked with a circled “JM” proof.
